These
paintings are about Tsunami. I started painting them on December
26, 2004, the day the world learnt of the great wave in
the Indian Ocean. I continue them today. During the month of February 2005 I
worked overlooking the Aegean Sea in a small village called Pachia Amos on the
north side of the island of Crete. It also happens that Crete was the site of
the oldest Tsunami in ancient recorded history. The Kalamazoo paintings were
done in a boat loft in Saugatuck, Michigan, overlooking the Kalamazoo River and
in
my studio in Chicago.
